Part of the NYU Langone Medical Center and Health System, the Hospital for Joint Diseases has been specializing in the treatment of patients with various orthopedic, rheumatologic and neurologic ailments since it was founded in 1906. The Harkness Center also provides care for a specialty population - that of the student, amateur and professional dancer. Through a process of comprehensive medical evaluations with physicians and therapists, factors contributing to the dancer’s dysfunction are discovered and discussed with the dancer. Functional treatment programs are then planned with an emphasis placed on preventative maintenance programs tailored to each individual dancer’s needs. |
