History

Since 1981, the BalletNova Center for Dance (previously Arlington Center for Dance/Center Dance Company) has been recognized as one of Northern Virginia's and Metro DC's premier dance education centers.

The BalletNova Center for Dance is dedicated to educating and mentoring dancers in a positive, nurturing environment and preserving the traditions of classical ballet through quality dance productions and education.  We believe strongly in treating every dancer with dignity and respect and our faculty and choreographers are firmly committed to training dancers for a professional career in a caring, yet challenging, atmosphere.

The school instills in its students an understanding that they can push themselves and reach their fullest potential while still caring for their bodies, balancing their lives, and learning healthy life habits.

The organization, with over 650 students, is based on the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus (an internationally recognized system that provides a certification program in classical ballet) across all levels of children's pre-professional classical ballet curriculum.

BalletNova Center for Dance also offers a wide range of recreational classes, including modern, jazz, tap, and hip hop, for youth dancers, as well as offering one of the most comprehensive adult dance class programs in the metropolitan area. For those who are interested in fitness, there are classes in Pilates, Stretch, Yoga and Floor barre.
